Today we had to follow through on a sad decision but we know it is the right decision for our family and farm. It's the first time we've been in this position at the farm in many years and these cows have been with us through thick and thin but its the right time for this big change. Also gardening and we continue to clean up the family farm and homestead.
I Can’t Believe They Let Us Cross THIS

I took my boys fishing and we found a crazy foot bridge. At first, didn’t think we were going to catch any trout. Then things took a turn and it got hot. We spent the day in beautiful West North Carolina along some of the most lovely rivers we have here. Nestled in the Appalachian mountains, we walked through brush, and found the fish.

4 QUICK and EASY Candies to MAKE for the HOLIDAYS - with RECIPES !
We buy our coffee, dog food, chicken nuggets, organic flour, sugar, mayo, spices, seasonal items, snacks, tortilla chips, vitamins, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, protein powder, pork and chicken, Italian sausage, hot dogs, bacon, fish sticks, clothing, batteries, tarps, Christmas presents etc. I usually go once every 4 to 6 weeks to catch the new sales. I also shop weekly at Sam's club. I get a few of the same things there, but mostly grocery staples like toilet paper, milk, cheese, lunch meat, bread, sour cream and half and half.
You go Bri! ❤ Snacks for the win! And yes you can freeze your croissants 👍Just make sure they are well wrapped or in some kind of well sealed bag. Ive frozen many a bread product (lots of times bc they were close to the best by date) and had success.
Organic coffee is a myth.....
Costco for big family birthdays.... cake and icecream in size and paperplates and plastic silverwear and napkins, chips, dips, drinks. Totally a thing in my family growing up.
I wonder how many children watching this learned a mountain of information about green beans, bugs, giving care back to the plant and were inspired? Great video Art.
good trick for Costco is to buy gift cards, or have friends that have memberships buy cards on your behalf. You can use them without a membership.
Oh Bri its so amazing to see u like this , so happy like good few years back ❤❤❤ love your videos! Regards from Poland xxx
Diapers and wipes are the reason we purchased a membership. But yes, you definitely need to go in with intention. If not purposeful you can grab a few things to try and end up with $70+ being what you intended.
We are just two now, down from 7 so our needs have changed. Water, paper products and cleaning products are the first items that come to mind as we can really stock up on these usually pricy items in regular stores, at a much better price. There are several frozen items we buy for dinners that serve us well as we can get 4-6 dinners out of each because of only being 2 people now. Clothes and shoes and small appliances are also priced well. The quality of Costco is almost always good. Have been stung on some of the produce from time to time.
Hello. thank you for sharing. Wishing you a happy and happy new day 🎉😊😅
I'm in Alabama and at my Walmart, English Cucumbers are 89 cents.... my jaw hit the floor when you said the 3pk was 7 bucks. Wowzers!
I am very lucky to have a Costco store only 20-30 min drive from us, so I get all my petrol from them for starters. I like to buy our meat in bulk from there, their fresh produce is good but only if you can get through it in time. I also get the freeze dried fruit, maple syrup, fats/oils, bakers flour, rice, toilet paper, wet wipes, detergents, nuts, frozen fruits. There’s always other random things but those are the staple things I get specifically from Costco.
Hey Bri! My kids love mangoes too - we get the frozen organic mangoes at Costco and freeze dry them. I would love to hear what you and your kids think of that treat - we love them!! (I have found the frozen organic fruit at Costco to be cheaper than azure in my area - as well as organic sugar and flour.)
I love that you have discovered Costco. It is the main place we shop once a month and get barely any other groceries at other stores. So great for large families! We are a family of 8.
Only 2 of us, in our 70's. Have bought a lot of clothing from Costco. I am a big sales buyer so always peruse the monthly flyer. Only buy laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent, toilet paper when discounted. Rotisserie chicken when I feel like pulling from bone and freeze smaller portions to pull out for meals. Salmon patties, kombucha, certain snack crackers. Olive oil, coffee. Vitamins, tylenol. Bagels, cut and put wax paper between halves and freeze. Etc, etc....
Costco beats Azure on frozen fruit, by a long stretch.
Yes! You can totally freeze Costco croissants. I also love their artisan bread. My husband and I will but se real freshly baked packages and I come home and slice it up and put it in freezer bags. It’s perfectly fine.
Sorry I did not see any beans more than half way so I stopped the video
I buy toilet paper and trash bags. I only have to buy toilet paper 2 times a year and trash bags once a year.
This sounded like a story book 💝
We love stocking up on organic: sugar, all purpose flour, avocado oil, certain seasonings/spices, and coffee at Costco. Also batteries and paper products. They have coupons that come out bi-weekly..or monthly? And that helps with certain things…You found some great deals! Nice haul, thanks for sharing!❤
I live in Asheville too. Why don't you go to Sam's? it's closer than Costco.
Thank you
We have a sams
When I was young an occasional treat for us was soda. We drank milk, water or cool aid (always with less sugar than the packet called for. That was too sweet.). Mom only bought soda when it was on sale, and she would "hide" it in a dark, cool spot under the basement stairs. Never left it conveniently in the kitchen. As we got old enough to know about her stash, we also knew it was off limits unless told otherwise. Put half of those snacks in an out of the way spot so you can pull them out after being "out of them" for a week or two. They will last longer and be appreciated more. Definitely compare prices with your other sources. A list of what you normally buy with all the current prices before a shopping expedition is always a good idea. The kids could check the prices on line for you and break it down to cost / unit. Great teaching moment and they will be doing something helpful as well as seeing the realities of budgeting and what that can entail. Thanks for sharing your discoveries.
If you plant sweet potatoes whole you would not believe the harvest you will get 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I don't have luck with melons either! But this year, I have vines and lots of flowers! I hope you speak the truth about hot weather, cause we're about to hit 100 in Oklahoma
I shop at BJs, which I believe is a little less than Costco. I purchase staple items, cheese sticks and other cheeses (mozerella, parmesan) bags of chips, dog food and treats, snacks, fruit, bagels, tortillas, etc. I have done the cost comparison with my local grocery and the price are better. I also try to go when I have coupons for products that I buy, which makes the cost even less.
Lemons and limes store twice as long in the fridge immersed in water. Just keep them in a pitcher with a lid filled with water.
Bri that was an amazing haul !! I’m sure the kids will love the snacks . U r doing great.
I love to shop at Costco for most of my groceries. We don't have Azure in Canada and I really like the cane sugar they sell. For us the milk, butter, cream, and eggs are cheaper there than at our regular grocery store.
My husband made an excel spreadsheet for me to do price comparison between the different stores. The nearest Costco is over 150 miles from me but a Sams is only 30 miles and there is an Azure drop once a month. I shop th local Farmers Market, Wal-Mart and the other local grocery store. Wish we had an Aldi but the one nearest is 70 miles away.
I love how calm you were through this! got a splinter like this two days ago (so I know how much it hurts!) but it went all the way under the nail and through the nail bed, and even after extreme nail clipping it was in too deep for me to get it out with tweezers - I ended up going to the emergency department yesterday and had to have a local anaesthetic so the doctor could dig it out... today it's all red and swollen so I think it got infected. 😢
If you have a Sam’s they have better prices on things . We have both but have found that Sam’s prices so much better . And the rewards that hey give are better.
We buy paper goods like paper towels, tp, tissues, kitchen sponges, zip lock bags,my husband likes the unscented dove soap, frozen fruit and vegetables, broth, avacodo oil, dog treats, I have gotten some of their clothes work pants for my husband, underwear etc. They had really good deals on fruit trees earlier in the season.. their spices for baking, their glyphosate free sprouted oatmeal and other baking supplies, the bags organic pretzels, they often have extra discounts on top of the good deals, so you'll want to watch for the coupons. Organic turkey lunch meat. The coconut waters. We buy a lot there. It is usually the cheapest price compared to azure in my observations. I do get my bulk grains, honey and Carob chips from azure. Although costco has better prices on their bulk organic rice usually. I will say that I have been to Costco in TN, AR, MO, and PA they've all been a little different. I was in Arkansas visiting family on one trip and scored the best deal on organic cotton towels they were really pretty and good quality towels, they didn't have them at the Costco that I was shopping. They will have random things like that then you won't see them for awhile or ever again.
Have you tried Sam’s Club? I find Sam’s be less expensive.
I understand not buying everything organic. You should really tried to stay away from the dirty dozen. If you don't know about EWGs work you should check it out. Strawberries are always at the top, full of chemicals and I would personally go without if you can't it not poisoned. Especially seeing all the kids getting sick from Strawberries this year with one dying at a field trip to a Strawberries farm
I’m glad I’m not alone…going back and forth with snacks. I walk through the store ‘I can make that ‘ and then I sure don’t have the time or mental capacity…lol
for us, produce isn’t worth it at Costco more than any other local grocer, but i do get toilet paper, paper towels, bulk goods, and some snacks. we’ve cut back on snack bc it does feel like a wallet drain and i try to stay ingredient focused when going to bulk stores. I have bought tupperware and lightbulbs on “the other side” and it was way worth it!!
🇦🇺When I was young we lived in a small town, 27 people. The nearest town and shops was 3 hours away. Mum shopped every 3 months. There was only the 4 of us but if you forgot something, you had to wait. Or see if anyone was going to town and could buy what you needed.
Just an fyi, you need Key limes for Key Lime pie. What you have are just standard limes. The flavor is different.
I have a Costco membership, but I don’t go there much. I buy Tillamook cheese there in the 5lb block and butter and sometimes nuts. Sometimes I buy a clothing item or two. We buy gas there a lot because it’s right off the freeway on our way to church. If I had to drive the distance you do, I would never go there, honestly. We have Winco here in Idaho, which generally has much better prices. Also, I don’t like the huge amounts of things and I hate the over-the-top amount of packaging and boxes. I think it’s highly overrated myself. I do have a prescription I get there every three months.
fyi croissants freeze great and straight to oven to recrisp them!
Bri, I purchase several packages of Costco croissants every time I go and freeze them. I’ve never had a problem with freezing them. Since I’m an hour away from a Costco, it helps me a lot. 😊
We go to Costco often. We buy a lot of the same stuff you bought even though there are only two of us, because it lasts so long, plus when some of the grandkids come over, I have something to offer them. I get all my paper supplies, trash bags ziplock bags, vitamins, Kingston brand Tylenol, some fruit and veggies but mostly stuff we can freeze. I don’t buy my meat there because I think Butcher Box is cheaper. We also get our gas there but it’s only two miles away. We also like to do date night there. A hotdog and drink is only $1.50. Where else can you go and only spend $3.00 for dinner. I’ve also purchased appliances there as well! - Sue in HOT AZ
I love their Kirkland toilet paper and paper towels. You basically are getting so much more than a name brand that looks the same but the amount in the K brand well double. And it is wonderful tp. And the best paper towels I have use for some reason. If I had to buy toilet paper for the amount we go through just running to a grocery store the price would just be insane. That was a great haul for 500. Absolutely. I also like to not go to the grocery store all the time either. I used to but now I hate wasting that time. Very worth stocking up on some things. Oh parchement paper. And dishwashing pods. Pods you can get 3 months worth that would cost 3 times as much if you have to get grocery store prices. etc etc. loved this haul. hugs
Thise croissants freeze great, I have to freeze or my 3 teens boys will est ALL OF THEM in a day!!! (Great as an eggs sandwich in the AM! I prep these for kids to have for brekfast)
Costco is great, but like you, it is far from me. We make a trip only once or twice a year, but thankfully the costco here delivers non perishables. I have 4 kids so I definitely stock up on school snacks. Also, batteries, canned goods, butter and frozen veggies. My husband also loves the kirkland beef jerky. Every once in a while you can find good deals on high quality clothing and shoes. If you don't grow your own, chicken is also a good one to stock up on at costco. Great haul! I'm impressed that was only $500.
Greek Yogurt, Cheese, Milk, Nuts, dried fruit, frozen fruit,
